A Virtual Tour of Spring Valley Roses Nursery and Gardens:
Scene 2

In the garden is an old building foundation has been filled with roses. The stone and block walls provide support for climbers and shelters the plants from winds.

scene 2

An old post from the building gives support to this climbing 'John Cabot' rose. Notice the bird house attached to the post -- this is specifically for wrens. These fiesty little birds can raise up to three clutches of babies in one summer, which means they spend a great deal of time hunting for food for the growing babies. The parents are always bringing back little green worms -- the kind that like to devour rose leaves. Wrens can put a real dent in the insect population, and they grace our gardens with their wonderful songs from early spring until August.
